It may not be known to everyone that I am also a bookwork, let me tell you: I AM!

I started reading books back in College because of my bestfriends’ influence. The first book I started reading was the Harry Potter series. Who in this world don’t love Harry Potter? Surely no one. I guess I chose the right book for me to develop liking with reading (fiction only). I am not into history books because trust me its boring. I do read non fiction but only with recommendation. For the last 3 years, I created a year end summary of the books I’ve read. Click here for the year 2013 and click here for the year 2014.

At the start of each year I always set goals of how many books I will read for that particular year. For 2015, I set a goal of 25 books, but again and as always, I can’t complete the number of books I set. Same old reasons, so I will not mention it again. I will keep same goal for 2016 and see if I can achieve it.

So below is the list of the 16 books I’ve read for 2015.

1. Outlier – Malcolm Gladwell
Good lord this is non-fiction but surely one of my favorite. Gladwell is a genius and I will read more of his books.

outliers

Favorite quote:

“Superstar lawyers and math whizzes and software entrepreneurs appear at first blush to lie outside ordinary experience. But they don’t. They are products of history and community, of opportunity and legacy. Their success is not exceptional or mysterious. It is grounded in a web of advantages and inheritances, some deserved, some not, some earned, some just plain lucky – but all critical to making them who they are. The outlier, in the end, is not an outlier at all.”

2. Where She Went (If I Stay #2) – Gayle Forman
The book 2 of If I Stay that I’ve already read last year.

Where-She-Went

Favorite quote:

“In the calculus of feelings, you never really know how one person’s absence will affect you more than another’s.”

3. Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) – Suzanne Collins
I’ve read the first and second book back in 2012.

Mockingjay-Suzanne-Collins

Favorite quote:

“What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.”

4. Act of War – Brad Thor
This is also one of my favorite for this year. It is like watching an action movie in a book.

Favorite quote:

“Happiness in life is all about three things—something to do, someone to love, and something to look forward to.”

5. An Event in Autumn – Henning Mankell

Favorite quote:

“A question that wasn’t asked was a question that didn’t need an answer.”

6. Big Little Lies – Liane Moriarty
I love the twist of the story. It will leave you wondering afterwards.

big-little

Favorite quote:

“Reading a novel was like returning to a once-beloved holiday destination.”

7. Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki – Haruki Murakami
I admit I am a bit dissapointed with this book. The ending is hanging and I still have a lot of unanswered questions.

Favorite quotes:

“Never let fear and stupid pride make you lose someone who’s precious to you.”

“You can hide memories, but you can’t erase the history that produced them.”

8. All The Lights We Cannot See – Anthony Doerr

Favorite quote:

“Time is a slippery thing: lose hold of it once, and its string might sail out of your hands forever.”

9. Eleanor and Park – Rainbow Rowell

Favorite quote:

“It was like their lives were overlapping lines, like they had their own gravity. Usually, that serendipity thing felt like the nicest thing the universe had ever done for her.”

10. The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo (Millennium #1) – Stieg Larsson
I first saw the movie and I really love it, maybe because I really like Rooney Mara, and it is also in that movie that I realized Daniel Craig is charming.

Favorite quotes:

“I’ve had many enemies over the years. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s never engage in a fight you’re sure to lose. On the other hand, never let anyone who has insulted you get away with it. Bide your time and strike back when you’re in a position of strength—even if you no longer need to strike back.”

“Friendship- my definition- is built on two things. Respect and trust. Both elements have to be there. And it has to be mutual. You can have respect for someone, but if you don’t have trust, the friendship will crumble.”

11. The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium #2) – Stieg Larsson
This series maybe long but there is no dull moment here. One of my favorite book series.

Favorite quote:

“Always retain the ability to walk away, without sentimentality, from a situation that felt unmanageable. That was a basic rule of survival. Don’t lift a finger for a lost cause.”

12. Confession of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic #1) – Sophie Kinsella
I love the movie, but not the book. Rebecca is so annoying. Thank god I’m not like her. haha!

“Rule of life. If you bother to ask someone’s advice, then bother to listen to it.”

I’ve read the first book, The Selection back on 2013 with the authors’ signature in it.

Favorite quotes:

“I’m not going to apologize for the way I’ve led my life.”
