Bukidnon, Philippines

My vacation started early and I want to share with you guys my trip to the province of Bukidnon. We took the route from Cebu to Cagayan de Oro via Cebu Pacific Air. We arrived at Laguindingan Airport in CDO, 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The weather was perfect when we arrived and I surely can’t hide my excitement to explore the places I have included in my itinerary.

01

From Laguindingan Airport we took a van or v-hire to Agora terminal (P199.00) for 2 hours travelling time. From there, we took another van or v-hire to Malaybalay (P120.00) where we booked our hotel. We traveled for another 2 hours and a half before we arrived in Malaybalay. We stayed in Bukidnon Business Hotel for 2 nights (P2,547.96) that I booked through Agoda in a promotional rate which is what I always do when travelling because it not only allow me to choose good hotel in a strategic location, but it also allows me to save.

02

We started our Bukidnon tour the following day by visiting Erection del Pueblo at Rizal park. As per history, this depicts the 1877 agreement between Spanish colonizers and Bukidnon leaders.

After that, we traveled from Malaybalay to Manolo Fortich (P80.00) where Dahilayan Adventure Park is located. My sister and I are up for adventure cause we do not want to miss the opportunity not to visit this place. From Brgy. San Miguel we hired a motorcycle or habal-habal to take us to Dahilayan (P500.00 back and fourth). On our way to Dahilayan we passed Camp Phillips where Del Monte Pineapple Plantation is located.

You will know when you reached Camp Phillips when you see this big Pineapple.

The kind habal-habal driver proactively informed us that we can take pictures in the Plantation, so without second thought, we went straight to the middle of the field.

After a very long, dusty ride, we arrived in Dahilayan Adventure Park where the longest zip line in the Philippines is located.

Just so you know, Dahilayan also has an hotel you can stay with. It is an ideal place if you want to be closer to nature where you can see mountains, beautiful landscapes and a lot of pine trees.

Since we have already tried zipline (not in Dahilayan though), we skipped it and went straight to Forest Park. My sister loves driving ATV, so we tried it instead. ATV in Forest Park costs (P650.00).

11

I’ve tried driving Buggy, which is just like driving bump cars so ATV is a challenge to me. Driving is easy but the road is not. There are very steep slopes, rough and dusty terrain.

This is me and my sister halfway our trip.

Had my photo taken at the peak of the mountain.

After our adventure, we went to Del Monte Clubhouse for our late Lunch. They are popular for their delicious steak and I don’t want to go home not able to try it. We ordered the Complete set which includes soup, vegetables on the side, green salad, fruit salad, and juice.

17

This is the green salad and mushroom soup. I swear both are disappointments. The soup is very diluted it doesn’t taste like mushroom anymore, it tastes like cornstarch. And the salad dressing is ketchup. I know Del Monte has ketchup, but to make it a dressing for a salad is a big No No. The salad as a whole is not at all appetizing.

18

This is what I ordered, it is Roast Beef Steak (P350.00). I have nothing to say about their serving because it is really huge. I am a big eater but I really had a hard time finishing this meal. What I loved about this food is the balance of flavor.

19

This is what my sister ordered. This is the Sirloin Beef Steak medium size, well done (P470.00). This one looks appetizing , but the meat is rubbery. I don’t know if all sirloin meat tastes like this, but I surely did not like it. The overall experience is quite disappointing because before we decided to dine here, I have already made research and most of the reviews says that food is great. In terms of fullness, yes I am really full because of the serving, but that’s just it.

23

After our lunch, we rode a bus to Sumilao (P35.00) where Alalum Falls is located. If you will see this structure beside the street, you will know that you have already reached your destination.

This is my view from the viewing deck.

What I loved about this place is, it is just along the road. You do not have to climb mountains just to get to get here and enjoy this magnificent scenery.

24

The last tourist destination that we visited is the Kaamulan Park. This house is what they call the indigenous house. This is a sample structure of the old Filipino house, maybe that is why it is called indigenous house. If you wanna be close to nature, have picnic and breath fresh air, this is a place to be.

Stay tuned, because on my next blog I will show you my Camiguin escapade. Have a good day everyone!
