Celebrating my 24th year of existence is like looking at days in the calendar as it flies so fast. It’s like, I was 18 yesterday and now I am already 24-not-so-young-years-of-age. I am not the type of person who throws big parties on my birthday. I always want my birthday to be intimate with a few close friends on the attendance. I also do not celebrate it with different circle of friends, like friends at work, friends on our apartment and friends from college or high school all in one. I want a celebration where I can talk to them, and not like the usual parties at home when I cannot even talk to other visitors.
This is a planned birthday celebration of me and my 4 closest friends whom I met when I started working at Convergys. They are my team mates and they are the people I can go crazy with and just be myself. We planned to meet at Gusto restaurant (as my preferred resto for this celebration). Without my knowledge, they plotted a surprise party which turned out to be a surprise to them cos I caught them in the act of setting it up. I being an early bird arrived at the venue before the meeting time. I was laughing my heart out when I saw my friend Aisa cutting the ribbon from the cake and saw a shocked face looking at me. Since I’ve already burst the bubble, what they did is just to confess with the impending crime that they are about to plot.
This is my cake. It says “Happy Birthday Lab Waren, from Labz Aisa, Joann, Jen and Mommy”. We call each other Lab, Lablab or Labz, that is the endearment that we have in a very bisaya spelling which in English means Love. Mommy Love is an exception because we call her Mommy Love.
This is Joann. She is my bubbly, sweet friend that I can talk to about all my secrets. We always do pinky-swear if there is a secret that we need to tell each other that must be kept between us. We have the same ideas and opinions in everything and by coincidence; we also have the same fate. I have never met anyone who has the same story as mine (well, just the love story part). But the only difference is, it does not happen at the same time, hers always happen first and mine follows. She became my reflection what what’s going happen to me in the future.
With Joann and Aisa who were supposed to set up the surprise thingy when caught them red handed.
This is Mommy Love. She is like a mother to me. She loves me like her own daughter and I also love her like my own mother. She is my mother here in Cebu since my real mother is in Leyte. Every time I miss my Mama Dada, I always hug her and it feels like I am hugging my Mama.
I love my cake and most specially my present.
Doing some fashion shots right here!
I love the ribbon in my hair from Beads and Pearls. Red, because it’s my birthday.
Not so bad candid shot. It is very apparent that I am happy and enjoying.
A lovely dress for a lovely occasion with a lovely celebrant.
Gusto’s cookie in a cookie jar.
I so love this shot. At least I can see how my ribbon looks at the back when I can’t see it.
I love the presentation of each dish that they serve. Italian pastas and pizzas are to die for!
This is Aisa, my better half. She is the kindest, warm-hearten person I know. I can talk to her 24/7 and believe me we will not run out of topic. She is the one who takes most of my fashion shots. She even coaches me of what appropriate pose I should make and fixes my hair if it is messy. She is good at putting make up and I learn most of eye and eyebrow tricks from her. We love each other like real sisters.
The pa cute me. I am so good at this.
Mommy Love choosing a Salad from the huge Gusto hard board menu.
Waiting for our Salad right here.
These chairs are so unique. It has letters that spells the name of the Resto.
I love the interior design of the ceiling. This place is really homey.
With my Lablabs. I love them like my real sisters. We can do crazy stuff and no one cares. They are the people who kept me sane and stood by me during my difficult times. I had a very rough break up from a past relationship and they were the ones who kept me company and feed me with words of wisdom and encouragement.
Group shot before we started our little feast. I feel so blessed to have these people and I thank god that I met them. They are indeed the best I ever had.
My pretty Lab Jean and and Lab Aisa.
“Open your present” says my Labz. Lol. I couldn’t be more excited.
Voila! There goes my denim clutch. I asked them what the basis is when they choose the present. They said, it is because the clutch looks very fashionable with quilts and studs. Lol. My Lablab’s really knows me.
Lab Jen also got a present because she did not receive a present on her birthday. She has been my friend even before we started working in CVG. She is my laughing buddy counterpart. We seldom talk about serious stuff but she cares for me so much. She always reminds me to be careful and not do crazy stuff that would harm me. Yes, she is such a sweetie.
Voila! Lab Jen received a travelling pillow. That is because she loves to have that pillow. Wish granted from our sweet Lablabs.
Let’s do another re-enactment as requested. Lab Jen and I opening our presents.
Lab Jen and me shocked by our presents! Lol!
The night ended so well, my Lab Aisa even bought me a bottle of Maria Clara red wine. Cheers to that!
