Another photoshoot session with my darling friend, Cheny Santizas at The Henry Hotel in Cebu. We’ve had this planned for a long time because I love the hotel’s vintage interior. I was a bit reluctant at first because I like an outdoor photohoot with natural light than indoor with light reflectors, but of course photographers can always work their magic by playing with the ISO, aperture and shutter speed which until now I find a bit technical even if I am slowly learning it myself. I know how to set ISO and aperture, but I don’t have the patience to change it when room lighting changes so I prefer everything to be outdoor and set my camera on auto mode. Lol.

Talking about my outfit, I decided for a lace on lace because pourquoi pas? Denim on denim is not a fashion crime and so is lace on lace. Culottes is an ideal summer wear which is what I am really obsessing next to floral dresses because I love the comfort it gives me. Fashion evolution is taking me by surprise lately, who would have thought, Culottes which is an 18th century fashion that started as men’s breeches become a mainstream fashion staple for women’s of 21st century. Plus there is no shoe requirement when wearing Culottes. Depends on the occasion, it can be paired with flats, rubber shoes, high heels, wedges or whatever you think would be ideal. It is the most versatile piece ever girl must have in their wardrobe. For this outfit, I wear it with pumps because lace embodies formality. Finally, rule of fashion, wear a black underwear beneath a see through top, but should it be a white top? Answer is no, take it from me. *wink

P.S. Cheny did not use reflector. She just used a DSLR and pure talent.

As you all know Winter time is over and finally it’s Spring, which means more OOTD time, more travels and more outdoor activities. The first itinerary that we have for Spring is the Tulip Festival in Ottawa.

Since this is the first time that we will be celebrating the Tulip festival, my friends and I decided to join a group tour through Wondertravels. Just like everyone else we are beyond excited to see Tulips, thus getting a tour will save us few bucks than renting a car, plus we can sit comfortably on our chair to doze off and wake up only when we arrive at our destination. The disadvantage in joining tour group is, you don’t own your time, you will have to adhere to the time schedule given by the tour guide. But, I did not see it as an issue though since they are giving us enough time in every place that we go to.

It was gloomy and cloudy in Ottawa that day. We were even considering on cancelling the trip the day before because of the weather, but I am glad that we did not. We still had so much fun because of the beautiful Tulips and of course with the company of my close friends. I can’t remember how many friends I bumped to into that day, but I was delighted to see them all.

02Let me give you a little background of what Canadian Tulip Festival is all about. Back in the days during the second World War, Princess Juliana of Netherlands came to Canada to seek refuge then gave birth to her daughter Princess Margriet in 1943. As a sign of gratitude for Canadians who sheltered them, Princess Juliana sent hundreds and thousands of Tulips and even promised to send 10,000 more every year. By 1953, the Canadian Tulip Festival started and continued up until today which is now the largest Tulip festival in the world. I am beyond grateful to finally be able to see this myself specially because I love flowers.

Next stop is the Canadian Museum of History. I love visiting museums but mostly art museums, such as the likes of Montreal Museum of Fine Arts which I love to death. This museum is different, it shows the history of Canada starting from the early people to the modern times which to be honest doesn’t really excite me. I don’t like history even at school, so getting into this museum is a bit challenging for me. There is also a hall for Hockey history which all the more I cannot relate. I did not enjoy it that much though. I was just taking pictures of cool stuff that I see, which will be shown below.

To be honest, the museum tour was so boring for me I was too excited to go out to see this view. This is the Ottawa River overlooking the Parliament Hill. Yes, it is the Parliament building not Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Next is Canadian War Museum. This is Canada’s museum for military history. Sounds like something I would not be interested in getting into but this is a lot more interesting than the first one.

Appreciating Ghost of Vimy Ridge painting by William Longstaff. I love this painting. A bit creepy to look at in person but truly meaningful. The white figures in the painting are the ghost soldiers who died for greater good. The painter’s notion is that the war was an act of national sacrifice.

Each of these lights commemorates one of the 3,598 Canadian soldiers killed in the battle of Vimy Ridge.

Another painting that I love. The message is very profound, it gives me goosebumps.

And finally our last destination, Parliament Hill. This is where you will see the Gothic revival building of the Parliament of Canada. I am definitely overjoyed to be here and be one of the 1.5 million visitors that come to Ottawa to visit the Parliament. The Central block houses the Senate and House of Commons. Political terms really intimidates me, it makes me feel like I need to have 200 IQ level to understand the ins and outs of the Parliament.

45

The Centennial Flame. Built to commemorate Canada’s 100th anniversary as a Confederation, but for most reasons it is where people gather for warmth in this chilly weather.

46

Behind me is the Peace Tower. They say you can take an elevator ride up to this 302 foot bell tower that was built in honor of the Canadian soldiers we lost during World War 1.

47

The East block looking Medieval in all its glory.

49

If there is one reason that I will be going back to Ottawa, it will be to visit the Parliament for free guided tour within the Center Block covering the Senate, House of Commons, Library and Hall of Honor. Those are the type of tours I enjoy the most where you are being spoon fed with information without reading leaflets because really, history makes my nose bleed.

This tour is worth every penny spent except for the overpriced buffet that I didn’t know cost so much. Lol. But on a serious note, this is truly an amazing experience. So if you are in Montreal, I would suggest for you to book a tour to visit Ottawa this Spring and Summer.

Audrey Hepburn is my fashion icon. I’ve watched all her movies that was digitally enhanced and I was blown away by how sophisticated she was. She is an epitome of classic fashion with so much finesse and elegance. Who doesn’t know about her most popular movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s? No one right? If you don’t know then probably you have been hiding in a cave. That’s a joke, but seriously all fashionista that has the same taste as mine have her as their fashion icon just because she is Audrey Hepburn.

A lot of people have tried to copy this look and I am one of those people who tried so hard to be her other version. Lucky enough I have a very supportive friend photographer who is willing to make my dream a reality, and that’s none other than Cheny Santizas. We arranged to have our photo shoot at The Henry Hotel, a boutique hotel in Cebu with classic hipster theme that would be very suitable for this look.

I decided to be minimal when it comes to my dress length, and my necklace is just one layer that I made for this shoot the day before. Though, I did try to find an elbow length gloves without success, I was able to find a cute tiara from Broadway.
